Greek Tragedies and Comedies were made by our famous Athens! The Athens made Comedies and Tragedies in 335 BC. Athens came up with three different kinds of comedy. Start, Middle, and End. Comedy means a story full of humor and happiness. It also means a story with a happy ending. There was only one person who writes comedy. That was Aristophanes. He made the story Menander. Tragedies is someone having to deal with problems but fails. It's kind of like the person that made the mistake and learns an important lesson but stills deals with the punishment. There were three important writers named Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides. Aeschylus was the author that is well known is Prometheus Bound. He calls him self the "father of tragedies" because he was there when the Persian war went on so he knows all mistakes and put them into a play. Sophocles was the first tragedy play writers but Aeschylus re-written them as his own. Sophocles made the first play were it involved Centaurs and Satyr. Centaurs is a human that is half horse. This play was called the Theban play. It feature Oedipus and Antigone, the sons of Eteocles and Polynices. This play was the most favorite fro the god Dionysos. Euripides doesn't have that much great facts on him but he did wright the play Suda and Rhesus.

This was held there every half moon before the moon reaches midnight. It was often a religious ceremony. The oldest play was the Satyr Plays. Satyr was the animal for Dionysos.
